British citizenship will enable you to apply for a British passport and means you can travel freely outside and within the UK without the need for a visa and freed from immigration controls.

British citizenship will give you the same rights as a British national. For example, to live in the UK to study, work, access the NHS at no cost, and claim welfare benefits.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR BRITISH CITIZENSHIP?

- Have legally resided in the UK for the required time period. This will generally be 3 years if your spouse is a British citizen or 5 years if you have had indefinite leave to remain for at least a 12-month period

- Plan to live permanently in the UK
- Be of good character
- comply with immigration rules
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO REACH A DECISION?
Complex cases may take up to 6 months for a decision to be made. However, Straightforward cases can be decided before this period.
