The following are a few of the many recent changes to the immigration rules:
ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW RESTRICTIONS
The right to Administrative Review for decisions made under the EU settlement scheme, the EUSS family permit and the S2 Healthcare Visitor visa is being removed. This change will apply to all applications made under this scheme on or after 5 October 2023.
APPENDIX ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Changes to Appendix English Language will allow applicants who have a GCSE, A level, Scottish National Qualification at level 4 or 5, or Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher in English, to meet the English language requirements. This will apply to all applications made under Appendix:- Representative of an Overseas Business
- UK Ancestry
- Global Talent
- Domestic Workers in a Private Household & Hong Kong British National (Overseas)
- T2 Minister of Religion
INTRODUCTION OF APPENDIX CHILDREN
Appendix Children is being introduced by the government, which will cover application requirements for children as the main applicant or children as the dependent of another. This approach will aim to provide clarity for applicants/solicitors and consistency in the immigration process.
YOUTH MOBILITY SCHEME
The Youth Mobility Scheme eligible age range for Australia and Canada is being expanded from 18-30 to 18-35, as well as an increase in the length of stay from 2 to 3 years. This will be applicable from 31 January 2024 and is the same age range and duration present to New Zealand citizens. Andorra is also being added to the list of participating regions under this route.
