APPENDIX CHILDREN

Appendix children was introduced on 05 October 2023, and acknowledges the importance of promoting the welfare of children in the UK, in accordance with the duty of the Secretary of State’s under section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009.

 

Appendix Children covers age, independent life, care, relationship, and parental consent requirements. For the purposes of this Appendix, a child means an individual under the age of 18, unless they apply as a dependent child, where they must be over the age of 18 if their previous leave was granted as a dependent child. The child must not be leading an independent life. If the child is under the age of 18, there must be suitable accommodation and care for the child in the UK. The parents of the child must have permission to legally be in the UK (excluding visitors) or each be applying at the same time as their child, unless exceptions apply.

 

This Appendix applies to the following routes, where the applicant is applying as a dependant child:

 

  • Domestic Workers in a Private Household
  • Global Business Mobility – Senior or Specialist Worker
  • Global Business Mobility – Graduate Trainee
  • Global Business Mobility – UK Expansion Worker
  • Global Business Mobility – Service Supplier
  • Global Business Mobility – Secondment Worker
  • Global Talent
  • Graduate
  • Gurkha and Hong Kong military unit veteran discharged before 1 July 1997
  • High Potential Individual
  • Innovator Founder
  • International Sportsperson
  • Representative of an Overseas Business
  • Scale-up
  • Skilled Worker
  • Start-up
  • Student
  • Temporary Work – Creative Worker
  • Temporary Work – Religious Worker
  • Temporary Work – Charity Worker
  • Temporary Work – International Agreement
  • Temporary Work – Government Authorised Exchange
  • T2 Minister of Religion
  • UK Ancestry

 

Appendix Children is also applicable to the below routes if the applicant is not a dependent child:
